When Creativity Starts Feeling Stuck

Are you struggling with writer's block? Do you feel stuck with a creative project? Is your memoir at a standstill because there are experiences or emotions you have not yet been able to process? Or perhaps you are a musician, performer, artist, or dancer who worries about performing in front of others.

If you have said yes to any of the above, I may be able to help.

As a writer myself, I understand how our minds can sometimes get in the way of creating. Anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, and overthinking can make it difficult to start, finish, or share creative work, even when creativity is something that matters deeply to you.

Common Challenges I Help Creative People With

Some of the common psychological difficulties I help creatives with include:

  • Anxiety

  • Imposter syndrome

  • Perfectionism

  • Performance anxiety

  • Stress and burnout

  • Depression

  • Trauma or PTSD

Many creative people find themselves caught between wanting to create and feeling blocked by fear, self-criticism, uncertainty, or the pressure to get things right. Over time, this can leave you feeling stuck, disconnected from your creativity, or questioning your abilities.

How I Can Help

Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I can help you learn to respond differently to the unhelpful stories your mind tells you, manage difficult emotions, become more flexible in where you focus your attention, and better understand what matters to you.

Together, we can explore what barriers may be getting in the way and help you take meaningful steps towards the creative work you want to pursue.

The goal is not to get rid of every difficult thought or feeling. Rather, it is to help you continue creating and moving towards what matters, even when self-doubt, anxiety, or fear show up along the way.
