I am Sanchana, a Clinical Psychologist and an Educational & Developmental Psychologist and the founder of flourish inside out psychology in Sydney’s lower north shore. When I was 21, I moved to Sydney on my own to pursue postgraduate studies with a dream to make Australia home. I spent my childhood living in the Middle East for some years and then in India. Having lived in three different countries and across three cultures, I have had to navigate feeling ‘different’ and often, not belonging during my younger years.
Since 2008, I have had experience working with children, adolescents and adults in schools, community mental health, hospital, and non-profit settings. I have also provided supervision to other psychologists, social workers, counsellors and therapists since 2015.
My therapeutic approaches:
I am trained in and use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) as my main modalities but I am also informed by positive psychology and compassion-focussed approaches. I consider myself an ACT Therapist as I use it as my primary framework and have found it helpful even in navigating my own personal life.
I work in a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive manner. I am also an LGBTQIA+ ally.
When not working, I enjoy creative writing (mainly short stories, but I’m currently working on a novel), reading, going to live music gigs, strength-training, spending time at the beach, hiking, and doing the bidding of my two rescue cats.
